Youth parliament initiates road safety awareness campaign

KARACHI: Youth Parliament of Pakistan, a social organization, has started an awareness campaign on road safety for the motorcyclist and the drivers in Karachi.

The project is initiated with the help of a motor manufacturing company.

The workers of the Youth Parliament of Pakistan were seen holding banners with road safety instruction at Teen Talwar Chowk on Sunday.

“Do you know the 70 percent of Karachi’s motorcyclists die during accidents as they do not wear the helmet” an instruction written of a banner that was carried by Hassan Ali Abid, an office bearer of Youth Parliament of Pakistan.

“We have started campaign on December 02, for the awareness on road safety,” Abid told Daily Times, adding that everyday they select a particular areas, where they display awareness banners.

They were carrying banners on which it was written instructions for motorcyclist to wear helmet and prevent their life.

They were also asking drivers and commuters to wear seat belts and they must respect traffic signals.

They said they are holding such campaigns to prevent the road users of the city from the accidents and save the life to death or injuries.

They said they are educating motorists, vehicle passengers and drivers to follow the traffic rules as to be kept away from the fine- charges.

According to World Health Organization (WHO), the road accidents Road Traffic Accident is also tenth leading cause of death.
