ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Managing Director Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor Khan has said that PTDC would run double decker tourist buses in Islamabad and Rawalpindi in collaboration with private sector transport companies.
The managing director was chairing a high-level meeting with the representatives of educational institutions and the private sector. Ghafoor informed the participants of the meeting, “Initially, students of schools, colleges and universities will be provided tour facilities with special discounted packages.”
He further said that in the initial phase of the project, buses will be run on routes that include the Faisal Mosque, Daman-e-Koh, Zoo, Rawal Lake, F-9 Park, Children’s Park, Ayub Park and Taxila Museum.
He said that gauging from the results of the initial phase, the exercise would be continued and the number of buses would be increased along with running them three to four days a week.
The managing director said that PTDC had approached the private sector for the provision of locally manufactured double decker buses through a joint venture.
Ghafoor added that the overall security situation in the country had improved and PTDC would increase its efforts for the promotion of tourism in the country.
