Sadia Jabbar Productions has an exciting new project up their sleeves: ‘Shameless Proposals’. Yes, you read it right! This web series hilariously portrays the horrendous practice of the ‘rishta culture’ in every other Pakistani household.

Apart from it being a dire need of the hour to address the topic, there are certain very thrilling elements which put it in a league of its own and on our Must Watch List.

Not one, but seven ‘Shameless Proposals’ are up for grabs!

According to co-producer Sadia Jabbar, the web series is set to depict seven different proposal stories, instead of unwinding a single story throughout the episodes. It shows that the production is up to make sincere efforts in spreading awareness regarding how a girl overcomes the unrealistic expectations of being ‘the perfect one’ in this society. Ever wonder, how the ‘transaction-deal’ is made in an arranged marriage? There is a humungous amount of information available, which sheds light upon what goes on before, during, and after an arranged marriage takes place. These scenarios are usually molded by emotional and irrational elements. Shameless Proposals is a satire that specifically targets this desi rishta process, with no depressing rona-dhona in the end.

Not an emotional ride, but this one looks like a full-fledged family entertainment. The hilarious depiction of some really serious and absurd issues on the rishtabusiness, in Shameless Proposals’ one-minute trailer looks so relatable. The witty and jocular nature of the trailer makes it digestible for most of the critics and at the same time, deciphers some bitter truth. Ever wonder how a burger feels when you break loose on it?

It’s more or less the same when it comes to an arranged marriage proposal meet up. Sadly, in most cases the guy holds up a menu card and shortlists some of its must-try items – P.S. Don’t get carried away – we are still talking about the arrange marriage scenario here!

A girl is presented to thy lordin a formal setting and she is mostly judged upon appearance and how she can lower the burden of a servant.

According to Sadia, Shameless Proposals is due to give us insight on the Rishta Culture through the girl’s perspective – her struggles versus her expectations (or a lack thereof). But it will also incorporate what a man has to toil. After all, does he really get to make the final choice?

Aweb series focused on a single societal problem

This time around, SadiaJabbar is specifically on a ‘Rishta-Monger’ hunt. The web series is claimed to just stick to shameless proposals and their immediate effects on a female, without diving deep into the family drama. How often do we see this? Not often for sure.

Sadia Jabbar, in an interview, spilled the beans saying that the web series also portrays how Pakistani women of today refuse to be succumbed into silence and wish to inquire more meaningful questions. Today’s independent and self sufficient Pakistani woman can be a beacon of light for the rest, and can take a stand against being blindly wedded off to a stranger. ‘Shameless Proposals’ promises to illustrate and tap various aspects of arranged marriage proposals.

How long will it take for us to understand, that compatibility and understanding in a relationship is of much more importance than acquiring a ‘bahu’ with the package deal of a heavy dowry, beauty and the Gol Roti superpower?
