LAHORE: To acknowledge the services of martyrs and soldier, Punjab Ranger Director General (DG) Major General Umar Farooq Burki Monday inaugurated ‘Azadi Museum, Nawa-e-Rehbran’ at Wagah.
The museum will be opened for the general public from March 23.
Speaking n the occasion, Sutlej Rangers Sector Commander Brigadier Asim and Deputy Director General Brigadier Shahid Mehmood briefed Umar Farooq Burki about the newly constructed attraction at Wagah. The ceremony was attended by officials from Rangers, retired military persons and social figures.
The museum has been completed with a total outlay of Rs 27 million. The name of the museum was proposed by the famous writer Anwar Maqsood.
The museum consists of three halls, a media library containing movies related to freedom struggle and a separate hall depicting Rangers history.
The Punjab Rangers director general said, “The theme behind the effort was to make new generation conversant with our rich history, the heavy price paid for freedom (both physical and material) and align themselves with the vision of our founders. This facility will be accessible to general public visiting Wagah apart from national and international dignitaries on a daily basis.”
