ISLAMABAD: The FIA has started an investigation against the General Secretary of the Civilian Employees Cooperative Housing Society (Sawan Gardens) for embezzlement of plots worth millions of rupees. Daily Times got the information that the president of the housing society, Ansar Mehmood Gondal, had submitted an application to the FIA in which he apprised the FIA that the Circle Registrar’s Office had also hold an enquiry held against the Secretary General of Sawan Gardens, Yasir Arfat Mehdi and found him guilty. However, the FIA is not taking any action against him. Gondal, in his application told the investigation agency that Mehdi had sold the plots No. CP-31, CP -32 CP-33 and CP-34 by showing them as commercial while he had transferred these plots illegally.

On this the FIA, aftercompleting the preliminary probe, registered the case No 11/2016 under Pakistan Penal Code (PPC)’s articles 420, 468, 471, 409 and 109 against the accused Yasir Mehdi and started an investigation. The sources of the housing society told this scribe that the members had suffered a lot due to the conflict between the office bearers. The President and Secretary of the society levelled charges against each other and both the officials took the matter to the Circle Registrar, who after the probe of the case suspended the body of the society and took over the administrative control of Sawan Gardens. The sources said that a corruption of billions of rupees had taken place in the society as the authorities had sold the land allocated for the graveyard, school and public parks by plotting it.
