ISLAMABAD: A senior police official is reportedly pressuring a victim of gang rape to reconcile with the alleged perpetrators who are influential political figures.

The accused gang raped the woman on New Year’s night in the name of providing her a job.

On the other side, a PML-N office bearer, who is allegedly involved in the case, has been sent to jail on judicial remand.

Police sources told Daily Times four persons called a 30-year old lady (R) for an interview in connection with a job at a house located close to railway crossing in Sihala on New Year’s night where they subjected her to rape. In the light of a positive medical report of the affected lady, the police has already registered a case under No 1/2017 clause 376/34 and arrested one Chaudhry Tausif, accused in this case. He is in Adiala Jail on judicial remand. The arrested accused Chaudhry Tausif is the general secretary of the PML-N Islamabad and he is being backed by a local MNA who is stated to be a close friend of Chaudhry Tausif. Police, however, is allegedly harassing and pressurising the victim woman to reconcile with perpetrators.

The victimised woman, while lodging report with police said that she lived in a rented house in Ghauri town with her husband Zohaib Hassan and her husband is a tailor master. Due to insufficient income of her husband she wanted to do some job. One Chaudhry Tauqir met her on Khanna Pull a week before. He gave his telephone number and told her that he was operating a school in Sihala. He took her CV and promised her to provide her a job . On December 31, Chaudhry Tauqir asked her to reach Sihala railway crossing for an interview.

She further stated that she reached at 4 pm near railway crossing and he took her to a house. In the meantime some other people also arrived there. One among these persons, Chaudhry Tausif, introduced herself as an MNA, Kamran introduced himself as an SHO and Iqbal introduced himself as a judge at Muzaffarabad.

The victim said all the four accused subjected her to rape. In the morning at 6 am, she escaped while finding all the accused lying in state of intoxication and informed the police about the incident.

Police sources said that a few years ago not only the case of raping a girl student at a police station was registered against Abdul Ghafoor, the sitting SHO of Sihala Police Station, but he was even jailed. Later he got himself reinstated.

The investigation officer of this case, ASI Ghulam Rasool, said the case of the incident had been registered while a medical check-up of the victimized woman had been conducted. Raids are being conducted to arrest the accused persons.

When contacted, Deputy Mayor Chaudhry Riffat, told Daily Times the accused Chaudhry Tausif is his voter and supporter. He lives in his constituency and it is also correct that he comes to his house often. But it will be premature to say something about his involvement in the incident or any conspiracy for entangling him in the case. No pressure is being mounted on the police from our side, he added.
