Two dead after jumping from burning building on Karachi’s University Road

Two people died after they jumped from a burning building on Karachi’s University Road on Thursday, SP Gulshan said. The two, who were severely injured as they jumped out of the burning building, succumbed to their wounds at a hospital, SP Gulshan further said. Eight others, including a woman, suffered injuries and were shifted to a hospital. Jinnah Hospital administration said five injured were brought to the hospital of which three have been shifted to the burns centre. Further, a Civil Hospital Burns Centre incharge said that three others have been admitted at the hospital’s burns ward. Fire brigade officials said that the fire which had engulfed five to six floors of the building has been doused. “The fire erupted owing to a short circuit in an a/c on the fourth floor of the building and spread through electrical wires,” the fire brigade officials continued.
