showers bring an end to long dry spell

ISLAMABAD: The weather has become pleasant after overnight showers continued in different cities of Pakistan.

The Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore Sargodha, Islamabad, GB, AJK, Kohat Bannu D.I.Khan Zhob, Quetta and other adjoining areas received showers on Wednesday. With prolonged dry weather witnessed across Pakistan for the past month, the rain lowered the temperature and chilly weather was reported in major cities of Punjab, KP, GB, Kashmir and other areas of Pakistan on Wednesday. The snowfall also occurred in Swat, Chitral, Gilgit and other adjacent areas.

Rain with snowfall over the hills is expected at scattered places of upper KP (Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan divisions), FATA, Rawalpindi Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Kohat, Bannu, D.I. Khan, Zhob and Quetta divisions. Dense foggy conditions are likely to continue over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh during night and morning hours. Temperature recorded in KP was as follows (in degrees Celsius): Dir 17, Mirkhani 12, Malamjabba, Pattan 11, Parachinar, Lower dir, Chitral 8, Kalam 7, Saidu Sharif 5, Drosh 4, Balakot 2, Peshawar 1, Muzaffarabad, Garidupatta, Rawalakot 2.
