Foundation of CPEC laid by Zardari: Chandio

KARACHI: The foundation of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) had been laid by the former president and Co-chairman Pakistan Peoples’ Party Asif Ali Zardari, said, Moula Bux Chandio here on Wednesday.

Asif Zardari visited China several times In this regard during his tenure, he added.

Mr Zardari, had informed me in detail regarding the CPEC idea when it was first conceptionalised. CPEC is a project that can benefit the entire country and the Sindh province has a major stake in it , Chandio informed.

“Interestingly, the idea and concept of CPEC was initiated by someone and was inaugurated by some other government.

“CPEC is the effort of Asif Zardari and we are proud of this project. Those who talk about the CPEC project, have Totally forgotten Zardari’s name in it. The Gwadar port project was also initiated by the Asif Zardari during his tenure, he informed. The friendship of Pakistan and China is not a strange thing and the foundation of this friendship was laid down by PPP founder Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

Chandio indicated that in coming days there will be a big wave of development and there are so many projects would in initiated.

Earlier talking to the members of Gharo Press Club at his residence he said that that those who thought they could eliminate Shaheed Bhutto’s name have failed terribly; the great leader is still alive in our hearts and minds while their names have disappeared into oblivion. Ironically, those who had supported the judicial decision then, admit it today that they were wrong.

We cannot forget the words of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto regarding Kashmir that we shall fight a war for thousand years to liberate and we shall eat grass, but we will make an atomic bomb. These were the words of a great leader who revived a new spirit and who has taught the depressed nation to start living with honor.

If Pakistan has had any leader after Quaid-e-Azam, who enjoyed reverence and popularity, he is Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Shaheed. He made the poor and downtrodden people politically aware. He wanted them to be treated and respected like any human being should be many people still remember those days when people of low social status like factory workers, blacksmiths, carpenters and cobblers were made office-bearers of the Pakistan Peoples Party. A social revolution took place and Bhutto was blamed for turmoil; but this was actually a golden revolution. He said that Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is struggling now days for true democracy in Pakistan and now he has fully entered into Pakistani Politics. He knows the problems of the masses. He is the reflection of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and his Grand Father Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
