Ustad Bade Fateh Ali Khan laid to rest in Lahore

LAHORE: Renowned classical singer Ustad Bade Fateh Ali Khan was laid to rest at the Mominpura graveyard on Thursday.

His funeral prayers were held at the Karbla Gamay Shah in the afternoon. Notables such as Ustad Hamid Ali Khan, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan, Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan as well as other singers and actors were in attendance.

He died at the PIMS Hospital in Islamabad where he had been under treatment for the last ten days.

He was born in 1935 in Patiala Gharana. His musical pairing with elder brother Ustad Amanat Ali Khan brought them immense fame in the classical music genre.

He had received the President’s Pride of Performance in 1969and Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his excellent contribution to music during his lifetime.

He left behind two sons, Rustam Fateh Ali Khan and Paras Ali Khan.
