Strong institutional linkage must for effective implementation of laws: Sanjrani

Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani on Friday called for strong institutional linkages among constitutional bodies to ensure effective implementation of laws and legislation to address the issues faced by the society on different spheres of life.

He further observed that the Upper House was also playing its role in promoting cordiality between Bench and Bar and has seconded the initiatives aimed at making the judicial system of the country more efficient for speedy disposal of cases. Chairman Senate expressed these words in a meeting with a delegation of President of Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA), headed by President of IHCBA Raja Inam Amin Minhas here at Parliament House.

Chairman Senate was appreciative of the fact that harmony exists between judiciary, bar associations and constitutional bodies for provision of speedy justice. “I am cognizant of the problems being faced by the IHCBA and the High Court and a bill for improvements and enhancing the number of judges in the Islamabad High Court has been referred to the Senate Standing Committee on Law & Justice. The Committee would seek the input of the Bar Associations and other stakeholder for finalize the bill. He said that speedy justice is not only requirement of the citizens but also responsibility of the State. The Upper House of the Parliament would actively pursue the legislation for improving the judicial system and early disposal of cases.

Chairman Senate hoped that the new leadership of Bar Associations would play robust role in promoting institutional harmony and work for the betterment of the lawyers’ community.

Meanwhile, the Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani in another meeting said that the Upper House of Parliament would take concrete measures for legislation on increasing the High Court Benches in different provinces and establishing the new Benches in the far flung divisions of the provinces.

Chairman Senate expressed these views while talking to a delegation of Bar Associations of Sargodha, Mianwali and Khushab here at Parliament House today. Senator Dr. Ghous Muhammad Niazi was also present during the meeting.

Sanjrani said people from the different areas were facing genuine problems due to non-availability of the Benches in Sargodha division. He said that the existing High Courts Benches were also under tremendous pressure due to pendency of the cases. He said that Senate Law & Justice Committee and other relevant bodies are also working actively on the judicial reform legislation. He said that the spirit of the House of Federation was to facilitate the masses through active legislation.

The delegation apprised the Chairman Senate about the problems being faced by the people due to non-availability of the High Court Bench in Sargodha Division. They further informed that the Bar Associations were observing regular strike to highlight this issue. Chairman Senate assured his full support to solve the issue.
