Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser on Friday said helping poor and needy people was our religious and national obligation and those who were participating in this selfless service to humanity are commendable.

He expressed these views while talking to Chairperson of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Dr. Sania Nishter, who called on him today at Parliament House.

While appreciating BISP’s services, the Speaker said that BISP was playing important role in improving the living standards of poor and needy people in the country. Like this program, Model Welfare Villages in all provinces of Pakistan will be established to provide state of the art health, education and recreational facilities to the poor and needy people of Pakistan, he added. He said that these villages have been named as “Pakistan Welfare Villages” and for establishment of theses villages a consortium has been formed in which more than 50 Welfare institutions are involved and a special taskforce has also been formed for this purpose.

Asad Qaiser appreciated the initiative of present government of establishing shelter homes for the deserving people in different areas of the country and ensured his all-out support for Benazir Income Support Program. While referring his recent visits to Rashidabad at Tando Allah Yar and KORT at Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, the Speaker appreciated the services being given by the institutions established for the destitute and special children by these Welfare organizations.
