Nawaz again refuses to shift to hospital

Author: Daily Times Monitor

Apparently not happy with the government’s offer for his medical treatment in the country, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday told his family that the ‘difficult time will pass’ and that they should ‘have faith’.

The Sharif family met the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo, who is still refusing to be shifted to hospital and insisting to remain in the prison, at Kot Lakhpat jail, a private TV channel reported.

Nawaz’s mother Shamim Begum, daughter Maryam Nawaz, younger brother Shehbaz Sharif and nephew Hamza Shehbaz were among others who visited the prison to inquire about the health condition of the former prime minister.

The family voiced their concern over Nawaz’s ‘gradual weight loss day-by-day’. According to reports, Shehbaz implored his elder brother to get hospitalised for his own good. However, Nawaz, who is serving a seven-year imprisonment in Al-Azizia reference, refused to do so. Moreover, Maryam also urged her father to do the same, to which Nawaz asked her to remain ‘strong in this difficult time’.
