A seminar was held at Government College University (GCU), Lahore on True Interpretation of Heer Waris Shah which was addressed by eminent London-based Punjabi poet Mazhar Tirmazi, renowned critic Dr Manzoor Ijaz, Urdu writer Professor Dr Saadat Saeed and the university’s Punjabi Department Chairperson Professor Dr Muhammad Saeed Khawar Bhutta. The speakers highlighted the need to start special classes and workshops in universities and colleges to make young generation aware of their great Punjabi poets including Baba Bulleh Shah. They also shed light on the strong character of Heer who stood against social injustice against women. GCU Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Hassan Amir Shah and a large number of senior faculty members also attended the seminar organised by the university’s Punjabi Department.
