The Sindh High Court (SHC) ruled, on Saturday, that it would reveal the sealed reports by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to the public about the Lyari’s gangster Uzair Baloch, former Fishermen’s Cooperative Society chairperson, Nisar Morai and the Baldia factory incident after a detailed review.

According to information available, a division bench adjourned a petition filed by Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Ali Zaidi, until March 25.

Sindh government has already submitted the sealed JIT reports to the bench in pursuance of its orders.

Earlier, Zaidi had tweeted on February 2, “SHC bench hearing my petition to release JIT’s on Baldia Factory Fire, Nisar Morai & Uzair Baloch has finally directed the Sindh Govt that the JIT’s be produced ‘in camera’ to the judges in their Chambers on Feb 16 at 10 am Excellent decision.”

The Karachi-based lawmaker had moved a petition in the court to order the law enforcement agencies to make JIT reports public.

His petition contended that over 250 people had lost their lives in the Baldia factory fire and the serious circumstances demanded the JIT report to be opened to the public.

The JIT reports of Uzair Baloch and Morai were also not available publically, the minister added.

Zaidi claimed that Morai had spilt the beans about the involvement of senior politicians in the murder of seven people during his interrogation at the hands of the JIT.

“It was the right of citizens to know about the suspects investigated during the JIT investigation,” he added.
