“This Women’s March has really upset me,” she said, while talking exclusively to Daily Times.
‘Be a woman who understands her strengths and powers. This to me is the same as India inciting jingoistic ideology and Pakistan talking about peace. Where are the evolved sane voices who want to be part of humanity?’
Shedding light on Friday’s march, Simi Raheal said, “This Women’s March to celebrate women has made me very uneasy. I am so sad that such thoughts prevail among some women. It’ll be quite detrimental to all the work done all these years to create balance! I believe feminism is redundant. It’s about balance, unity, inclusion and understanding. When we don’t understand social context and religion, we decide we need to fight because it is our will.”
Talking further on the issue on Saturday, Raheal said, “Why would we want to be men, when being a woman is so beautiful. Be a woman who understands her strengths and powers. This to me is the same as India inciting jingoistic ideology and Pakistan talking about peace. Where are the evolved sane voices who want to be part of humanity?”
Raheal is also teaching at Beaconhouse National University and is associated with various organisations as trainer. She’s also an active member of the Culture & Information Advisory Board.
