SHC heats up as judge blasts NAB for slow progress in land allotment case

Author: News Desk

The director general of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) would have to be summoned to sit through every case, thundered the chief justice of the Sindh High Court on Friday. Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh lambasted the NAB officials during a petition on the inquiry of alleged illegal land allotment in Hyderabad against the chairman of the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT), Abdul Subhan Memon. According to the information available, the NAB prosecutor informed the court that the bureau had completed its inquiry against Memon and sent the matter to the head office for a final decision. CJ Sheikh remarked, “You are saying this for a long time now.” He then asked about the case officer of the NAB, to which the prosecutor replied that he was on leave. The bench immediately summoned the file of the case. The defence counsel argued that the allegations against his clients had not been proved in the inquiry.
