Improvement in Gilgit

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Once upon a time, Gilgit city was a victim of pollution due to the negligence of concerned authorities. But the government of Gilgit Baltistan has took several admirable steps to make Gilgit a garbage free city.

The Gilgit Balistan government has also orchestrated a solid waste management project for the first time in the history of Gilgit Baltistan as well as upgraded the municipal committee as municipal corporation. This step was helpful in openning new opportunities for unemployed persons as well as increased the efficiency of the department. Now sanitary workers reach early in the morning to the doorsteps of the masses to collect garbage. Similarly, the metalling of roads was long overdue. But now the roads of Gilgit Baltistan have been made carpeted.
