SCCI chief demands concrete steps for promotion of industrialisation

PESHAWAR: The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (SCCI) President Haji Muhammad Afzal has urged the federal government to take concrete steps for promotion of industrialization and bring to end the bar on new gas connections in the province.

He was imparting a presentation at Sarhad Chamber of Commerce House Peshawar over the government policy regarding the importance of gas for the promotion of industries sector in the province.

Haji Muhammad Afzal claimed that till the federal government ban over the new gas connection exists the dream of the industrialization in the region could not be achieved.

KP producing 475 mmm cf and its consumption was less than 240 mm cf which required that government utilize the extra gas for the commercial sector. Director General (DG) of POGCL Numan Akbar, Assistant Manager Rokhail Ursghani, vice president Muhammad Iqbal, former president of the chamber Riaz Arshad and other members of the executive committee were also present in the presentation.

The members of the executive committee urged that provincial government can not proceed in the industry sector unless the cooperation of the federal government and abolish the ban over the gas. They claimed that foreign investors consider the gas important entity for investing in different sector and therefore the centre should take the seriously make the gas flow without any restraint.
