HYDERABAD: Rallies were held by teachers, students and members of civil society to mark the Education Day in Hyderabad and Dadu on Sunday. In Hyderabad, a rally led by Director Schools Rasool Bux Shah was taken out from the Government Naval Rai Hiranand High School, which terminated at the local press club after marching through various parts of the city. Rasool Bux Shah, Deputy Director Sadaqat Hussain and DEO Education Iqbal Memon addressed the rally attended by a large number of teachers, students and members of civil society. The speakers stressed on the need of strong commitment to provide education to every child. They urged all the stakeholders to wage a joint struggle for dealing illiteracy in the province. Another rally was taken by the Government Secondary School Teachers’ Association. The rally was led by Mubarak Abbasi, Mahmood Ahmed Chohan, Altaf Pathan and Bulend Iqbal Khan. In Dadu, several rallies were also taken out on the eve of Education Day. Those organised the rallies included the Government Secondary Teachers Association (GSTA), Primary Teachers Association, Zindagi Development Organizations and Child Rights Advocacy Network. Speaking on the occasion, GSTA official Ghulam Ali Lashri announced to support the education department for improving literacy in Sindh.
