The written order by Justice Jawad Hassan directed the authorities to strictly implement the laws related to hiring minors as domestic help.
He also ordered the formation and protection committees for children working as household help. A notification was also issued with reference to the salaries of child domestic workers, aged between 15 to 18 years. These children were only allowed to work for three hours. The court called for the formation of special courts to address issues of child domestic workers.
The bench also directed that domestic help be given a holiday on May 1 as a commemoration of the International Worker’s Day. A Social Security Institution would also be established for the protection of the rights of household workers. NEWS DESK
