He was scheduled to leave for Japan on a four-day official visit on Sunday, where various meetings with Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe; Japanese Foreign Minister, Taro Kono; and other key officials were to be held. Qureshi was also scheduled to speak at Japan Institute of International Affairs and hold a discussion with Japanese intelligentsia.
Sources in the foreign ministry said that a new schedule of the minister’s visit to Japan would be announced soon.
Japan is one of the chief economic partners of Pakistan and has made key contributions to support developmental projects over the years. The foreign minister’s visit was expected to build on additional opportunities to discuss bilateral ties as well as regional and global importance.
