Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Wednesday ordered a special audit of Sasti Roti Scheme that was launched during the tenure of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government in Punjab. As per details, Food Minister Samiullah Chaudhry told the House during the Q&A session that 504,325 metric tonnes of wheat was given by the Food Department for the project of Sasti Roti Scheme between 2008-2013 and a subsidy of Rs 13.374 billion was given by the department for the said scheme. The minister pointed out reports of irregularities in the scheme initiated by the PML-N. The speaker ordered a special audit of the project while directing the officials concerned to submit the report of audit in the House soon.
