Haris makes strong comeback after long injury lay-off

Author: Staff Report

LAHORE: Pakistan all-rounder Haris Sohail, who has been battling injuries for over a year now, made a comeback to domestic cricket while representing NCA XI in their match against Malaysia at the Gaddafi Stadium here on Tuesday. The Sialkot-born left-hander first picked three wickets and gave away just 13 runs in his three overs with the ball, and then scored 119 not out off 112 balls, which included more than 15 boundaries.

The 28-year-old, who has represented Pakistan in 22 ODIs and four T20Is, missed action for a year-and-a-half after seriously injuring his knee. During that time, Haris who has an average of 43 in ODIs with a strike-rate of over 82, has missed the Asia Cup T20, World T20 and tours to England, New Zealand and Australia. In an interview earlier this year, Haris revealed that the surgery on his knee took place only as a last resort. “The injury was a serious one and surgery was really the last choice after all other options had been exhausted but I am confident that I will be able to fully recover and serve Pakistan again,” said Haris.
