In the written orders sent to Chairman National Accountability Bureau, Speaker has demanded the presence of Aleem Khan who is in the custody of NAB Lahore these days in the assembly chambers at 9.am on today. The 7th session of the Punjab Assembly will start from today. The letter sent to NAB says: “I, Parvez Elahi, Speaker, Provincial Assembly of the Punjab consider presence of Mr Abdul Aleem Khan MPA (PP-158), necessary during the said session, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by rule 79-A of the Rules of Procedure of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, 1997, I hereby summon Mr Abdul Aleem Khan, MPA (PP-158), to attend the said session at the Assembly Chambers, Lahore,” Speaker Elahi also issued the production orders of PML-N MPA Khawaja Salman Rafique to attend the session who is also in the custody of NAB Lahore these days.

Briefing the media persons regarding the 7th session, minister for law and parliamentary affairs Raja Basharat said that the government has a rigorous agenda for legislation during the upcoming session that will start from Wednesday and the assembly will play impressive role for legislation in the session. “We are planning to bring numerous bills in the session while a resolution over the successful recent visit of Saudi crown prince will also be tabled in the House,” he said. He further added that the government will try to reserve few days during the session for pre-budget discussion in which MPAs will give their suggestions for the budget making. The pre-budget discussion is mandatory in the assembly calendar that is planned every year before the budget in any of the month from January, February and March. The Punjab government is planning to bring budget in the month of May and it is highly likely that pre-budget discussion can be started in the upcoming session.
