HYDERABAD: Civil society and journalists on Tuesday strongly condemned the arrest of Akhlaq Jokhyo, a journalist from Naushahro Feroz, demanding his immediate release. In this connection, a protest led by Hyderabad Press Club Vice President Ayub Leghari was held here. Criticsing police, the protesters said that Akhlaq Jokhyo, editor of a local weekly, had been framed in a false case. They demanded immediate release of the journalist. Hyderabad Union of Journalists President Farhan Effendi, Secretary General Abbas Kassar and others expressed concerns over the arrest of Akhlaq Jokhyo. They said that the journalist was being punished to write against grabbing of graveyard land in Naushahro Feroz.
