American rapper Pitbull said on Wednesday that he would be unable to perform at the opening ceremony of the much-anticipated fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

In a video that he uploaded on his Twitter account, Pitbull said, “pieces of the aeroplane’s engine had come apart” after a test flight and that was why he would be unable to reach Dubai, where the opening ceremony is scheduled to take place.

“I want to start off by saying I was very excited to be able to go to Dubai and perform for the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) PSL cricket tournament,” he said. “But, unfortunately, what has happened was, it was such a long flight, they took the plane for a test flight and when they landed, pieces of the engine had come apart,” the singer added.

The internationally-acclaimed musician, who has lent his voice to multiple soundtracks for the ‘Fast & Furious’ movie franchise, further mentioned that he tried his best to participate.

“Between the Pakistan Cricket Board, we had tried our hardest to get over to Dubai. I just want to say I’m sorry. I deeply apologise for that,” he maintained.

Nevertheless, Pitbull said he was grateful for “the love and support” and that he hoped to be in attendance next year. “Enjoy, have fun, thank you to HBL and Super League, for even thinking of me to be able to come to the cricket tournament. Really appreciate it! Hope to see you guys next year or any time soon,” he promised, before signing off with a wave of his hand.
