LAHORE: For the first time in its history, the Lahore General Hospital (LGH) has started the facility of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) test in the evening shift, enabling the patients to be diagnosed until midnight.

This facility will be very useful for the poor and deserving patients, who earlier had to pay expensive lab tests from outside the hospital during the nighttime. Moreover, government employees will also be major beneficiaries of this initiative, as they too are busy during the daytime in their offices and cannot reach the hospital.

Post-Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Principal Prof Dr Ghiasun Nabi Tayyab said that the LGH was the first public hospital to have introduced this facility.

He, along with LGH Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Ghulam Sabir visited the Radiology Department and personally observed the patients undergoing the procedure.

The attendants of the patients told the officials that they could have never imagined that such a facility of a costly test would be available in a government hospital during the nighttime.

Prof Dr Ghiasun Nabi said that the LGH administration was taking practical steps to provide best available medical facilities to the patients.

He said that timely diagnosis of a disease was the first important step towards its treatment.
