PMA urges government to build new hospitals

LAHORE: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Lahore chapter called on the government to construct hospitals and expand the emergency and out-patient departments of existing hospitals.

Addressing a press conference, PMA leaders including Dr Ajmal Hassan, Dr Wajid Ali and Dr Iram Shehzadi expressed grief over the death of Zohra Bibi in Jinnah Hospital due to not being attended to by staff. They claimed that such incidents happened due to a lack of hospital and medical facilities.

They said that at least six hospitals were required to meet the needs of the ever increasing population of the city which had increased to over 12 million. They also asked for the prompt restoration of the medical superintendent of Jinnah Hospital and three other professors, who were suspended following Zohra Bibi’s sad death.
