Pakistan to tour the Caribbean in April

WEST INDIES: The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) announced that the national team would play host to Pakistan with a full series scheduled for April.

The series will consist of two T 20s and three Tests and three One Day Internationals (ODI), WICB Operations Manager Roland Holder said.

The Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain would host two Twenty20s, followed by three ODIs held at the Guyana National Stadium.

Kingston’s Sabina Park would host the first test beginning from April 22, followed by matches in Bridgetown from April 30 to May 4 and in Roseau from May 10 to May 14.

Former heavyweights West Indies rank a lowly eighth in Tests and Holder said the series against number five ranked Pakistan would provide an opportunity to better their ranking.

“Any series against Pakistan always poses an interesting contest for the West Indies,” he said in a statement.

However, there was no news from the WICB on the possibility of playing two Twenty20s in Pakistan, which remains a restricted region for top teams due security matters in the country.

Holder had earlier said that there was a proposal from the PCB to play two T20 matches in Pakistan, subject to a Players’ Association agreement and a security clearance.

Schedule of Pakistan’s tour to West Indies is as follows:

Mar 31:1st T20I, Port-of-Spain

Apr 2:2nd T20I, Port-of-Spain

Apr 7:1st ODI, Providence

Apr 9:2nd ODI, Providence

Apr 11:3rd ODI, Providence

Apr 22-26:1st Test, Kingston

Apr 30-May 4: 2nd Test, Bridgetown

May 10-14: 3rd Test, Roseau
