Supreme Court at it

Author: Daily Times

Sir: To stabilse the ‘back-to-basics; whiff of ‘change’ at the apex court, not only the bench, but also the bar should contribute its la moitié. An apex court is not a laundry shop. The politicians should avoid approaching it to get washed their dirty linen. The rejuvenated Khosa court should do a bit more than just throwing out politically-motivated, false, or frivolous cases. It should impose heavy fines on plaintiffs and their pleaders. These fines should be proportionate with their financial wherewithal.

Let us recall, what Justice Muneer said shortly before pronouncing his verdict on the pioneer political Dossoc case ‘when politics enters the portals of Justice, democracy, its cherished inmate, and walks out by the backdoor’ (Roedad Khan, Pakistan: Pakistan: A Dream gone Sour, p. 175).
