Paralegal staff vital for court: CJ

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar on Thursday said the importance of paralegal staff and officers cannot be ruled out for smooth functioning of the institution.

He said this at a ceremony held in the Supreme Court.

He added that the paralegal staff is backbone of the courts, adding that without them tedious task of dispensation of justice could not be fulfilled.

He further added that each staffer is duty bound to contribute to the effort of better performance of the court, therefore, duties must be discharged with commitment, dedication, devotion and honesty of purpose. Moreover, he said, high standard of official conduct and discipline has to be maintained in order to uphold the rule of law. “Supreme Court of Pakistan is the apex court of the country mandated with responsibility to not only dispenses justice but also to keep a vigilant eye on the other organizations of the State to adhere to the constitution and the law,” Justice Nisar said, adding, “People bring their grievances and expect for their redressal, therefore it is incumbent upon all of us to deal them in a decent manner so as to facilitate them in accordance with law to provide relief to them.”

He added the credibility and the dignity of the institution demanded efficient performance from the staff.

Separately, the CJP and other judges expressed deep sorrow and grief over the sad demise of former Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice (r) Saeeduzaman Siddiqui.

They extended their heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the grieving family.

In this regard, a condolence meeting headed by the CJP and attended by all judges was also held. The participants prayed for the departed soul.
