KARACHI: The second three-day Pak Water Expo concluded with over Rs30 million business deals here on Thursday at the Expo Centre.

The event was organized by Prime Event Management in collaboration with Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KW&SB).

Deputy Mayor Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Dr. Arshad Abdullah Vohra was the chief guest at the closing ceremony.

Talking to media, Director Prime Event Management Kamran Abbasi said that over Rs30 million business deals were matured during the exhibition which is a positive outcome and encouraging for organizers and exhibitors.

Officials from public and private sectors also expressed their interest to purchase new technology. During all three days, local and international companies exhibited their products and equipment used in water treatment, water desalination, water conservation, water distribution, wastewater management, effluent treatment, water recycle and reuse and waste water sludge disposal.

Talking to media, Dr. Arshad Abdullah Vohra who was present at the occasion emphasized that such exhibitions should be held twice a year to create awareness among masses about the efficient use of water through modern technology, and more business opportunities for local and international companies.

KWSB performance is not satisfactory and it did not deliver well during the past years. “Sewerage system of the city must be replaced to get maximum benefits from K-IV project as this will take two and a half years to complete. Water supply and sewage lines are mixed causing diarrhea related diseases. The federal government should also help us to resolve this issue,” he added.
