24 schooled on dealing with emergency services

LAHORE: As many as 24 participants from several organisations Thursday successfully completed their month-long training on dealing with emergency services.

Special Adviser to the Punjab Chief Minister Rana Maqbool Ahmad attended the closing ceremony held here at the Emergency Services Academy. Former Scottish lawmaker Hanzala Malik graced the occasion as the guest of honour, while Emergency Services Academy Director General Brigadier (r) Amir Hamza participated as the chief host.

Punjab Emergency Service Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer, Emergency Services Academy Registrar Dr Muhammad Farhan Khalid, Nepal NSET Director Ganaish Kumar Jimmie and Course Monitor Lieutenant Colonel Jagdesh Kadka were also present among others.

Speaking on the occasion, the Emergency Services Academy (Rescue 1122) director general congratulated all the participants on successfully completion of their training and thanked the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and home secretary for their support and patronage.

He said that the two international training courses would greatly enhance the capacity building of the participants, besides strengthening the emergency response in Pakistan. “I hope that you will share this precious knowledge with your colleagues, besides spreading it into community level.”

In his address, Rana Maqbool said that the management of the Emergency Services Academy deserved immense appreciation for lunching the ‘Programme for Enhancement of Emergency Response’ (PEER) for effectively dealing with emergencies and disasters. He also expressed his deep gratitude on successful completion of training and congratulated Director General Brig (r) Amir Hamza along with his team for his efforts towards ensuring a safer Pakistan. He said that the Punjab chief minister was committed to strengthening the institution with the collaboration of the Turkish government.

“We would be sending the first team of rescue officers and officials to Turkey for advance training and some innovation in medical field,” he said, adding that the emergency services had been expanding to across the province, for which the Punjab government deserves credit.
