COAS faces questions on newsgate, Rana Sanaullah

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa on Thursday responded to questions asked by officials regarding Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah’s tirade against military courts and Dawn leaks, Daily Times learnt.

Soldiers were of the view that the nation knew well that due to military courts terrorism was curtailed and overall security environment was improved. To which the COAS said, “Our performance speaks well and whole nation is with this great institution.”

Sources added that the army chief also responded to questions on Dawn leaks and assured the officials that the army’s dignity would be upheld al all costs.

The top general made it clear that the army’s dignity and credibility would be upheld.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor, the top general said this during his visit to Jhelum and Kharian Garrisons. The COAS was given a detailed briefing on operational preparedness at Headquarters Central Command, the ISPR head said.

General Bajwa visited Para Ranges at Jhelum and witnessed concluding session of the Army Firing Competition. A total of 667 military and civilian firers from across the country participated in the four-week long event. A special feature of the event was the participation of 86 war wounded officers and soldiers.

Praising their performance, the top general said, “With more focused preparations our teams should excel to represent Pakistan in international events.”

Later, the COAS addressed Kharian Garrison officers. Speaking on the occasion, he praised officers for their contributions in counterterrorism operations as part of Operation Zarb-e-Azb. The top general paid rich tributes to the martyrs and injured. He said, “The Pakistan Army’s dignity and credibility would be upheld through selfless performance of our role and duties.” Earlier on arrival, the top general was received by Central Command Commander Lieutenant General Umar Farooq Durrani.
