Sheikh Rasheed sets deadline for Shehbaz Sharif to resign as PAC chairman

Author: News Desk

Railways Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Friday set an eight-day deadline for National Assembly Opposition Leader Shehbaz Sharif to resign as chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). Rasheed stressed that Shehbaz Sharif was not acceptable in PAC. “I have informed Prime Minister Imran Khan that Shehbaz Sharif is not acceptable to me as Public Accounts Committee chairman.”

He added that Sharif was trying to use his position as a bargain chip and a bargain would not be acceptable. “They are here on a picnic. Giving interviews and getting their pictures taken. Speaker sb, you have done the wrong thing,” Rasheed said referring to Sharif’s production orders being issued by the National Assembly speaker. “I am only in this country because of Imran Khan,” said Rasheed. A day earlier, the federal cabinet called on Sharif to resign from the chairmanship. Following the federal cabinet meeting, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said the PAC was being used to protect those being probed by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
