Nawaz may be shifted to PIC

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif may be shifted to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) after the medical board constituted to monitor the ailing PML-N supremo’s health advises for further treatment, a private TV channel reported.

Experts from the Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC), PIC and Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology (RIC) comprise the medical board and authorities are expected to file a request to declare Nawaz’s room at the cardiac hospital a sub-jail.

On January 25, the provincial government had formed the medical board to examine the health of Nawaz Sharif after the deposed prime minister complained of chest pains. Five days later, the board conducted a thorough medical examination at the Kot Lakhpat jail where Nawaz is currently serving a seven-year imprisonment sentence awarded by an accountability court in the Al Azizia corruption reference moved by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in light of the Supreme Court’s verdict in Panamagate case.
