SHIKARPUR: A woman was forced to give birth to her child outside of a hospital on Saturday after she was asked to wait by doctors.
Hospital official Dr Uzair Soomro said that the woman, who could not be identified, had come to the Shikarpur Madeji Rural Health Centre for a checkup. However, a lady doctor who had given her an initial examination asked her to wait for half an hour, he said.
The woman subsequently left saying she would return in half an hour, however she then had to give birth outside of the health centre, with doctors giving her first aid, Soomro added.
This incident, along with other related ones, depict the sad state of public health services in the province, especially in rural areas.
