MUMBAI: Bollywood hosted the 62nd Filmfare awards, where celebrities toasted to the best performances of the year 2017.
Filmfare Awards wasn’t the most anticipated event for just the Indians but also for the Pakistanis. People had their fingers crossed and eyes glued to the social media as four of the Pakistani artists were nominated at bollywood’s biggest film awards.
Fawad Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Atif Aslam, Qurat ul Ain Balouch were nominated for the Filmfare in the very same year where Pakistanis celebs faced several factious issues for presenting their talent in India. However, the excitement didn’t last for long. None of the Pakistanis celebs won last night.
There was no stopping Aamir Khan’s Dangal as he bagged the best actor award while the movie itself won the Best Movie Award of the year. Nitesh Tiwari won the best Director award for Dangal.
Student of the year actress, Alia Bhatt emerged as the Best Actress for Udta Punjab while the Critics choice award best actress was given to Sonam Kapoor. Critic’s choice award for the best actor was shared by Shahid Kapoor for Udta Punjab and Manoj Bajpayee for Aligarh.
Fawad Khan lost to his co-star Rishi Kapoor as the Best actor in a supporting role category for Kapoor & Sons. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam, both missed their chance to win for the best playback singer award (male category) as Arijit Singh bagged the awards for ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’.
