Bajwa condoles with Afghan president over recent attacks

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa called Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani to express his grief over the loss of life in the recent terror attacks in Afghanistan.

Speaking with the president through a telephone call, the COAS expressed sympathy with families of the victims and said that his heart ached on the tragic events that have befallen people of both the brotherly countries over the last many years.

COAS assured the president of Pakistan’s cooperation with the Afghan govt and its people and said that Pakistan would him in the elimination of terrorism, which affected the peace and stability of the whole region.

He emphasised that Pakistan has come a long way in its fight against terrorism.

Qamar Bajwa suggested a strong border management mechanism and intelligence cooperation to put an end to the militants’ movement across the border.

He said that the hostile elements in the region are strengthened by the ‘blame game’. Both nations should focus on capitalising upon making the most of the successful Zarb e Azb in Pakistan.

Ashraf Ghani thanked the COAS for his sentiments and reiterated that both nations must work together for peace and stability in the region.
