A petition against the arrest of Khawaja Salman Rafique and his brother Khawaja Saad Rafique was challenged on Monday in the Lahore High Court. According to details, the petition was filed by Lawyers Foundation for Justice where the federal government and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal was made the party in the petition. The petition holds the stance that NAB’s action of arresting any suspect during its ongoing investigation is deviating from the law. The petition tabled the point of view that the Khawaja brothers were not given their due right of a free and fair trial; hence, the court must acquit them.

It is pertinent to mention that on January 19, an accountability court of Lahore extended the physical remand of Saad and Salman until January 26.
