Mirani Dam

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Mirani Dam, which was built during Musharraf’s regime, is a source of great relief to the residents of remote areas in Balochistan like Dasht and Kech district. It is providing ample quantity of water to the growers to cultivate different kinds of fruit, vegetables, wheat, barley and cotton crops.

It is playing an important role in the progress of Pakistan’s economy. It can also be a great help to overcome the issues of water scarcity in Gwadar District, which is not far from the dam. It has also created a lot of job opportunities and played a part in the growth of various businesses in Turbat city. The government needs to build such small dams in other areas of Balochistan to overcome the problem of water shortage.
