As PSL anthem releases, Ali Zafar reveals why he isn’t a part of it this year

Actor and singer Ali Zafar rendered his vocals to the first three editions of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) but in a break from tradition, the latest anthem was sung by another sought after actor and singer Fawad Khan.

Fans were left wondering regarding why Ali Zafar did not sing the anthem for this year’s tournament as well.

Turns out, the singer-cum-actor’s packed schedule did not allow him to do so. Talking to media, the singer said, “Due to my busy schedule, I could not manage to sing the theme song and had informed the organisers about it in advance. PSL is a brand now and I am glad that I had a role to play in its expansion.”

He said that new faces should now emerge in the field.

PSL 2019’s highly-anticipated anthem was released on Friday. The anthem which is titled “Khel Deewano Ka” has been sung by Fawad Khan and features rapper Young Desi. It has been written by Shuja Haider.

While the anthem does not seem catchy at first, upon listening to it again you will be swaying to it and singing it along.

Every year, a musical anthem is released for the PSL to promote the tournament. Separate anthems for every team are also released to promote their tournament performances.

The first three PSL anthems were sung by Ali Zafar. In 2016, the anthem was titled “Ab Khel Ke Dikha”.

In 2017, “Ab khel jamega” made PSL fans sway to its tunes. “Dil Se Jaan Laga De” which was composed, written, produced and sung by Zafar was released in 2018 and was also extremely popular among fans.
