Good governance required

Author: Daily Times

Sir: Leadership is the ability or quality to motivate and inspire others people to achieve their desirable goals. The years and decades have gone but there are no proper systems yet in the country. With constant changes in approaches of governance and the failure of our society to take one particular direction in matters of governance has left us wondering which system we really needed. As a society we have been unable to come up with a comprehensive system that could work well for everyone and in the absence of any support our society’s passion with religion’s role in politics has only grown. The problem with using religion in politics doesn’t stop here.

Pakistan in the 21st century faces many threats towards our national unity, stability and control and this sense of helplessness is continuously expanding at an alarming level.

Pakistan is a nation of remarkable people who are hardworking, strong, resistant, dedicated and who possess strengths to overcome obstacles and challenges coming their ways.

The country is also a unique in its dedication to the principles of freedom and constitutional democracy as proposed by the founding fathers. People are duty bound to permanently renew this purpose to make it ever visible in politics and public life of our nation.

The current national and global threats and challenges demand a new vision of leadership in Pakistan. The vision which we can draw from our past, but is not bound by outdated thinking. This change requires that the leaders must take significantly different directions, guiding new generation of Pakistani people who are willing to accept challenges of our broken systems and have the abilities to develop innovative solutions against current issues. Our younger can see opportunity where others observe only challenges.

We need that leadership which is guided by a clear sense of what we stand for. Leadership requires the clear headed men and women with personal integrity, determination, consistency and personal courage. We require understanding the religious sentiments, which will always be the reason why this separate homeland was created and thus remains as a force of utilisation.

Now is the time when we look towards a visionary leadership for Pakistan which has the willingness to face challenges and can transform them into opportunities for the welfare of the people.
