The GOAT: Ronaldo or Messi?

Author: Daily Times

Sir: It would be a never-ending debate when ask who should be crowned the GOAT in football, Ronaldo or Messi? Their followers won’t waste a second to start. Debate aside, both these athletes have been amusing us by displaying such magical moments, insane skills, and unforgettable dribbles which no one had ever witnessed before. Both football stars started emerging in the year 2008 when Ronaldo won his first Balon d’ or and Messi stood second in that competition.

Since then, Messi has bagged five Balon d’ors and Ronaldo recently added fourth to his remarkable achievements. It’s almost a decade now since anyone else other than these two has come near the top two of the World Football Player’s list. In addition to their individual performances, Ronaldo and Messi are leading their national teams Portugal and Argentina. Despite being on the top of their individual performances, both players have failed to win the World Cup trophy for their country. Closest Messi has ever reached to achieve this glory was last time’s FIFA World Cup 2014 Final when they loss 1-0 to Germany in extra time of the match. Ronaldo has no good record in World Cups but he has done more than enough in Euro Cup which stands second biggest achievement on International level. Ronaldo lead his team to win Euro 2016 and played vital role in that historic journey.

It’s hard to name one for the title GOAT as both look flawless in their field. Their followers should take it easy and enjoy these awesome moments as the day is not far when both of them will retire and generations would wait for such football players to play in front of their eyes.
