Ghazala wins 1st Inter Club Women’s Golf title

The inaugural Inter Club Women’s Golf Tournament, endorsed and patronized by Mrs Ayesha Hamid, was contested at the Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course here Sunday. Participation was allowed to women golfers of Gymkhana, Lahore Garrison Golf Club, Royal Palm Club, Defence Raya Golf Club and by invitation to golfers with a registered handicap. Form of play was stroke-play and the competition turned out to be fierce indeed as the competing women strategised and planned their game to come up with accomplished scores. Names like Ghazala, Rimsha, Parkha, Suneyah, Sameea and Ana were all there to show their skills and ability and to apply their command and control over their game. At the end of 18 holes, Ghazala Yasmin of Garrison Golf Club emerged as the gross winner. She won this honour through flawless hitting and good work on the greens.

Her gross score for the 18 holes was 77. Ghazala, a former national title holder, managed to prevail over her fancied opponents with an admirable performance.

The runner-up in gross section was Rimsha Ijaz of Defence Raya Golf Club. Rimsha, regarded as a talented one, tried hard to curb the winning march of Ghazala but had to be content with the runner-up trophy. Her gross score was 81 as Ghazala defeated her by four strokes. Third gross position went to Suneyah Osama of Garrison Golf Club and her score was 85. As for the race for honours in net section, the successful one turned out to be Iman Ali Shah of Gymkhana. Other position holders were Maimoona Azam, Aisha Moazzam and Shabana Waheed. The team trophy was won by Garrison Golf Club.
