3.6 magnitude earthquake felt in parts of city

KARACHI: An earthquake of moderate intensity jolted Karachi and its adjacent areas on Tuesday morning and the people, frightened by the tremors, came out into the safety of the open areas.

According to details, the quakes were only felt in certain parts of the city such as Gulshan and Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Students of NED University and Karachi University came out of the universities rooms into the safety of the open area, after feeling the tremors.

According to reports, magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 3.6 on Richter scale at a depth of 12 km. People rushed out of their houses and offices in panic. However, no loss of life or damage to property has been reported.

The epicenter of the earthquake was determined to be Karachi and its depth was estimated at 12 km while it was measured at 3.6 on the Richter scale. The earthquake began at 10:44 am and lasted for about ten seconds.

People took to social media to describe the scene, saying residents felt tremors and came out of their homes and offices located in the area. Students attending classes at the University of Karachi and NED University came out of their classrooms.
