Army to support field staff during census in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: Local Government Director Muhammad Waseem and Census Coordinator Muhammad Arshad during a meeting to review the census arrangements in the Bahawalpur Division confirmed that as many as 9000 officials would perform duties to conduct census in three districts of the division.

The meeting was held at the conference room of the Commissioner’s Office. As many as 2671 official at Bahawalpur, 2338 at Bahawalnagar, 3307 at Rahim Yar Khan while 970 would perform their duties in Cholistan area. A four-day training workshop for the officials who would perform their duty would start from January 24.

The meeting was briefed that the commissioner would supervise the census proceeding at the division level while the deputy commissioner and the assistant commissioners would supervise the census proceeding at the district and the tehsil level respectively. The meeting was briefed that the army official would also accompany the field staff.

On the occasion, Commissioner Saqib Zafar directed the officials that a comprehensive arrangement should be made to ensure conducting census on modern and scientific line.
