NAP and banned outfits

Author: Daily Times

Sir: I have a question for those who have compiled National Action Plan (NAP)’ 20-point agenda after weeks of intense arguments and discussions — it’s point number ‘7’ asks for — “Ensuring against re-emergence of proscribed organizations”. I presume it means banned outfits won’t be permitted to operate under new names.

That’s ok, but nowhere this much prided 20-point agenda talks about stopping the banned outfits from functioning under their original names. And that’s what exactly is happening.

As per NACTA website, ASWJ is a proscribed organization since 2012 but isn’t working with full vigor all across Pakistan, regularly staging rallies and public meetings, even participating in Local Government, Provincial and National Assembly elections, working hand-in-hand with Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC, another shadowy group which operates on and off whenever it’s strings are operated from somewhere)?

Why we keep blaming the federal interior minister for hosting/ facilitating ASWJ leadership in his office? As per NAP agenda, there is no prohibition on banned outfits to function in Pakistan; however, they are not allowed to work under new names, but why they need to change names when working under original titles is not an issue?

Keep all the endless TV debates of 8-12 pm aside, I would ask the readers to go through the 20-point agenda on NACTA website (http://nacta.gov.pk/NAPPoints20.htm) and then look around to judge what a banana republic we are living in?
