All Pakistan Oil Tankers Owners Association (APOTOA) protested against KPT Staff outside Karachi Port Trust gate number 15, Natty Jetty Bridge on Wednesday.

The protesters held placards against the Karachi Port Trust’s staff and chanted slogans against them for taking bribes from oil tanker drivers.

Chairmen APOTOA Mir Yusuf Shahwani, addressing the protester, told that KPT’s staff asked bribery from tanker drivers for giving entry for loading; this cruelty should be stopped immediately and the KPT staff involved in illegal activities should be punished.

He said, “We are businessmen who pay advance tax but the KPT staff made troubles for our drivers by asking for bribe […] We request Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, commissioner Karachi and KPT chairman to take notice of the staff of KPT.”

Talking to Daily Times, APOTOA Vice Chairman Mir Shams Shahwani added that after chief secretary sindh, Commissioner Karachi and KPT Chairman took notice, “we ended today’s protest.”

He informed that KPT chairman called them for a meeting over the issue, “We are hopeful that tomorrow’s meeting will resolve this issue; if our problem is not resolved, we will be free to make our own decisions (take matter into our hands).”
